A federal spending bill that was passed by U.S. lawmakers on Friday night to avoid a partial government shutdown includes millions of dollars for Louisiana.

Senators voted in favor of the overall $460 billion Consolidated Appropriations Act hours before some federal departments would have had to close down.

The largest Louisiana investment is the $36.5 million earmark going to help fund lock and dam maintenance along the J. Bennett Johnston Waterway.

Some other projects include $3 million for the fentanyl and violent crime task force at the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office and another $3 million to revamp the D-Day Invasion of Normandy building and exhibits at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.
