The New Orleans City Council is moving ahead with the eviction of Mayor LaToya Cantrell from an apartment at the Pontalba Building.

The council voted on Thursday to enable the French Market Corporation to start eviction proceedings on March 21 if the mayor hasn't handed over the keys and moved her personal belongings out of the unit by then.

The idea is to put the apartment back on the market, which could generate $2900 a month in rental revenue for the city.
