The Louisiana Department of Education says students in the state have improved results on the LEAP tests for the second straight year.

The agency released results for the latest school year on Wednesday.

Louisiana students in grades three through 12 showed better proficiency in English, math, science, and social studies.

The state agency says 75 percent of school systems improved from the previous year.

There's still work to be done, since Louisiana advanced from 46th in the nation to 42nd.
