A federal lawsuit claims the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority doesn't sufficiently accommodate wheelchair-bound passengers.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday claims the RTA is in violation of both the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Louisiana Human Rights Act.

A Metairie attorney filed the suit on behalf of his seven-year-old son.

The plaintiff claims RTA illegally denies wheelchair access to at least 75 percent of the streetcars and 90 percent of the stops on historic St. Charles Avenue.
