Tyrell Morris is stepping down immediately as director of the Orleans Parish Communications District.
Morris had earlier announced his resignation effective September 15, but has come under investigation for reportedly altering the OPCD take-home vehicle policy after his involvement in an accident in his city-owned vehicle in May.
The OPCD board of commissioners had planned to vote today on whether Morris should be removed immediately.
Morris announced his abrupt departure on Monday.
