The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is proposing changes to reverse the overfishing of redfish in the state.

On Thursday, the agency announced a plan to alter redfish maximum and minimum sizes and bag limits for fishers.

The department says the move is necessary to replenish the redfish population, and there are federal regulations involved as well.

The public has 45 days to comment to the department. A legislative oversight committee will have the final say.
