The Jefferson Parish School Board is delaying a vote on proposed redrawn attendance maps based on its school consolidation plan.

Board members got an earful on Monday evening from members of the public unhappy with the proposed maps, which would affect more than 6,000 of the district's 47,000 students.

The board plans to close seven elementary, middle and high schools and send their students to other campuses.

Opponents say the plan will create havoc with bus schedules.

The board may vote on the maps at their next regular meeting on Wednesday of next week.
