Former Louisiana Transportation Secretary Shawn Wilson is running for governor.
Wilson announced this morning that he is entering the race as a Democrat, confirming rumors that started after he left the Department of Transportation and Development last month.
Wilson, the first Black candidate in the race, has served the state of Louisiana for 25 years under four governors.
In his campaign announcement, Wilson said he would be a governor that builds bridges, not burn them.
