Officials are reporting that a hiker from Baton Rouge who went missing in Arkansas has been found safe.

The family of Clinton Smith, 67, reported him missing after he went for a hike last Thursday in the Buffalo National River in Newton County and didn't return.

Rangers and volunteers found Smith near the river, more than two miles from the trail.

Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler says Smith has no significant injuries and was apparently trying to find his way back while search crews looked for him.
