Louisiana is launching its mental health telephone hotline this weekend.
Starting on Saturday, residents can call 988 and be put in touch with a mental health professional within seconds.
The program is also being initiated in other states and is partially funded by the federal American Rescue Plan.
Participating states will also need to make additional funds available.
