Feds Approve DSNAP For 25 Hurricane-Affected Parishes In Louisiana

The USDA Food and Nutrition Service is approving additional food aid to families affected by Hurricane Ida.

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services got the federal go-ahead on Tuesday to start Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program operations in 25 parishes affected by the hurricane.

The interview process will start next Monday.

USDA rules say DSNAP can't start in communities until all other federal disaster food assistance in a parish has ended, power and telephone/Internet connectivity are restored, mail is being delivered, and grocery stores are open.
