The New Orleans Fire Department is receiving a grant to help with staffing for "Adequate Fire and Emergency Response."
The grant will provide almost $16 million in federal funding to hire 63 firefighters.
The Fire Department Superintendent says the funds will help to make the area safer for residents.
The funding for the grant will also cover 100% of the firefighters' salaries and benefits for three years.
