Residents in six parishes that have been impacted by Hurricane Laura, can now register for FEMA aid.

Governor John Bel Edwards announced that Vernon, Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jefferson Davis parishes can now register for aid.

Edwards added that he also requested additional aid for 17 other parishes and believes the added parishes will be approved for aid as well.

The governor's request for a Major Disaster Declaration was approved by President Donald Trump last Friday.

In the declaration, Edwards requested Individual Assistance for 23 parishes and so far, FEMA has approved six.
