Unemployed In Louisiana To Receive Reduced Federal Boost To Benefits

Gov. John Bel Edwards says those receiving unemployment benefits will be getting a $300 boost from the federal government.

Edwards spoke yesterday to confirm the payments would be retroactive to August 1 and should last four to five weeks.

The money is half of what unemployed Louisianans were getting until the end of July, but Congress was unable to agree to extend those benefits.

President Trump signed an Executive Order to give those out of work $400 in benefits, but $100 of that number is the responsibility of each state.
