The St. Tammany Zoning Commission is tabling a controversial proposal to create a landfill north of Lacombe until later in the month.
Officials confirmed yesterday that the landfill measure would now be looked at during a meeting on August 19 at the Castine Center in Mandeville.
Commission members said moving the hearing to the larger venue will make for more social distancing room and allow more members of the public to address their concerns.
If approved, the landfill would be built on 104 acres of a former racetrack north of I-12.
