Scientists studying the coronavirus and how it spreads say they are not sure it will act like the seasonal flu and become dormant in hot weather.
According to data released yesterday by researchers, similar viruses to COVID-19 like SARS die faster in temperatures with higher humidity.
Studies show coronaviruses can live on surfaces for 28 days in 20% relative humidity and around two weeks in 80% relative humidity, but in extreme weather it can die in a matter of hours.
Dr. Chad Roy at Tulane says so far it appears COVID-19 has a longer half-life than regular flu, SARS, and tuberculosis which is concerning.
