The new trade agreement between the U.S. and Mexico is going to bring new jobs to Louisiana.

According to officials, the new deal which replaces the old NAFTA agreement is expected to boost shipping through the ports of south Louisiana, bringing more than 6,000 to New Orleans.

The trade agreement, passed by Congress last month, is expected to provide new agricultural markets for American farmers, especially dairy, by setting up new price structures.

With more than 50% of all U.S. exports coming through Louisiana, State Congressman Steve Scalise believes it will generate more money for the state's economy.
