Homeland Security Investigating Counterfeit Goods In New Orleans Stores

US-CYBER-DHS

The Department of Homeland Security says it is conducting an investigation of counterfeit items on New Orleans store shelves.

DHS officials confirmed yesterday they had been looking into the matter for over a month and it includes toys tainted with illegal toxins that could pose dangerous hazards from fire or explosions.

According to investigators, the items contain sub-par or counterfeit electronic components that do not meet federal guidelines.

Authorities say they have already begun seizing products and removing them from store shelves.
