Parents in Jefferson Parish are voicing their concerns about safety at the Oakdale Playground in Gretna where children play youth football.

Parents and children gathered yesterday morning outside the Jefferson Parish Parks and Recreation building to protest the department's lack of concussion protocols.

Organizers of the protest said a child suffered a concussion last month and they are blaming Parks officials for not teaching safety and proper tackling.

Parents are also asking for a waiver on switching parks so they can avoid a two-year sit-out period.
