(New Orleans, LA) -- New Orleans Police say they picked up seven juveniles breaking curfew on the first night of enforcement Monday. Under the curfew law, juveniles under the age of 17 are not allowed to be on the streets after 9 p.m. on weekdays or after 11 p.m. on weekends. Officers can also arrest anyone who is out past curfew if they are believed to have been involved in a crime but according to reports, none of the children detained were taken to Covenant House. Even if they are never arrested, a child who breaks curfew three times in one calendar year will be issued a court summons, and parents could face a fine.
