NOPD Officers Suspected Of Wounding Bystanders During Exchange Of Gunfire

Police gunfire may have been responsible for injuries suffered by three of five innocent bystanders who were wounded when officers exchanged shots with a suspect on Canal Street.

That word came yesterday from NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson who was quick to note that it was the suspect, Reginald Bursey, who allegedly triggered the gun battle February 17th.

Officers were approaching him after he used a stolen credit card at a nearby business. Bursey, a suspected member of a Houston, Texas gang, was killed, and five people at a nearby bus stop were wounded in the volley of gunfire.
