The next New Orleans police chief will come from within the department and not as the result of a national search., according to Mayor LaToya Cantrell's office.
She's expected to announce her choice by Monday.
Cantrell and the rest of the world learned earlier this week that Superintendent Michael Harrison will retire next week as the top cop in the Big Easy to become Baltimore's Police Commissioner.
