John Kennedy Says Governor Should Resign

Runoff Election Held In Louisiana For State's Senate Seat

With a third special legislative session on the Louisiana budget looming, U.S. Senator John Kennedy says Governor John Bel Edwards should resign.

The remark was made on KPEL Talk Radio.

Kennedy, a Republican who's apparently mulling the idea of challenging Edwards' re-election bid, believes the Democrat should step aside and let Republican Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser run the state.

A spokesman for Edwards labeled Kennedy's comments as "childish."
