Legislation that would extend state funding of foster care until a person turns 21 or graduates from high school will next be considered by the full Louisiana Senate.

The chamber's Finance Committee gave a thumbs-up to the bill Monday.

Funding the expected $1 million cost increase is proposed to come out of the $53 million BP oil spill settlement.
