St. Tammany Parish authorities are concerned that adulterated heroin may be circulating in the area.

The warning came from the coroner, Dr. Charles Preston, after his office got involved in three deadly drug overdose cases on Saturday. He says the deaths may have been due to a batch of heroin being mixed with Fentanyl or something like it.

Preston is advising addicts and the families of addicts about the over-the-counter availability of Narcan that can counteract overdose effects and save lives.
