Mayor-Elect Seeks To Block Recusal Effort

New Orleans Mayor-elect LaToya Cantrell is fighting an effort by Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry to have all 12 judges of Orleans Parish Criminal District Court recuse themselves in a credit-card probe.

A hearing on the matter is set for tomorrow.

Cantrell has hired attorney Billy Gibbens to oppose the move by Landry who wants an ad hoc judge to oversee the investigation into Cantrell's use of a city-issued credit card while she was a city council member.
