An NOPD recruit was placed on emergency suspension Sunday after being charged with domestic abuse battery.

29-year-old Justin Hammonds was arrested by Jefferson Parish deputies following an early morning incident at an apartment in the 2000 block of Oak Creek Road in unincorporated Harahan.  His 28-year-old wife told authorities that she had been struck several times.
