Gov. Edwards Has Meetings In D.C. Today

Governor John Bel Edwards will participate in a meeting with the President today and then press for more federal disaster assistance for Louisiana in meetings with others.

Edwards has been in Washington since Friday for a meeting of Governors.

After joining in a session with other Governors and President Trump, Edwards is scheduled to meet with House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and the new Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney to discuss Louisiana’s unmet needs from the floods of 2016.

The state has secured $1.6 billion in flood relief over two congressional appropriations, but the governor is requesting $2 billion more.
