ESPN's Smith: Rant Was 'Most Egregious Error Of My Career'

Posted Monday, July 28th 2014 @ 1pm

(Bristol, CT)  --  ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is apologizing for what he says is "the most egregious error" of his career.  During Friday's appearance on "First Take," Smith insisted victims of domestic violence need to be mindful of "the elements of provocation" when dealing with their abusers.

Smith's remarks came during a discussion of the two-game suspension handed down by the NFL to Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice after Rice was caught on surveillance video dragging his unconscious fiancee out of an elevator.  On today's "First Take," Smith said his comments were foolish and wrong.
