Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old suspect wanted in the Tuesday murder of a 39-year-old woman.
Ryan Pourciau of Ponchatoula was nabbed inside the victim's home on Wednesday afternoon. Hiding under a bed, he was shot by deputies after he reportedly displayed a gun and he suffered a non-life threatening wound to his shoulder.
Pourciau has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of April Vanderlinden whose daughter had been in a relationship with him.
Deputies escorted family members back to the home shortly after 2PM Wednesday after they spent the night at a hotel. A member of the family noticed that something was "out of place" in the house when they returned and deputies began a sweep of the home.
Investigators say a protective order had been issued barring Pourciau from coming into contact with Vanderlinden's daughter.
Vanderlinden was shot in the backyard of her home around 7:40am Tuesday and died after she was rushed to a hospital.
