As the Tulane football team gets ready to open the 2013 season Thursday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome against Jackson State, construction of the university's new on-campus stadium is on schedule.
Yvette Jones, Tulane's Executive Vice-President for University Relations and Development, says the stadium's steel structure is going up for the stands and the interior spaces. By early fall, they expect construction to be underway on the suites.
"We fully expect that unless we have any major weather events, that we will be playing in our home stadium in the fall of 2014," Jones tells 99.5FM.
The $72 million stadium will have a seating capacity of 30,000.
