Jefferson Parish Property Assessment Rolls Open For Review

Jefferson Parish Property Assessment Rolls Open For Review
Posted Monday, August 25th 2014 @ 12am

Jefferson Parish property owners can review their 2014 assessments beginning today.

The assessment rolls will be open for public review at the parish assessor's offices - in the Yenni Building on the East Bank and in the General Government Building on the West Bank - from 8:30am to 4:30pm Aug. 25 through Sept. 8.

Assessor Tom Capella says since 2014 is not a reassessment year (the next reassessment year is 2016), he expects little change in property values from 2013, unless the property was sold or renovated since last year.

"On a non-reassessment year, if you just stay in your regular home, and you don't sell it or move or get a permit, then the value of your assessment is not gonna change until the next reassessment," Capella said.

The total assessed value of property in Jefferson Parish was $4.136 billion in 2013. For 2014, the total assessed value is $4.232 billion.

Property owners who disagree with the assessed value of their property can file an appeal. Any appeal must be filed in person.
