The Jefferson Parish Council has approved a demolition order to tear down a blighted apartment building in Harvey.
The action came at Wednesday's Council meeting.
The property is in the 2600 block of Destrehan Avenue in the Woodmere Subdivision, close to where the body of a six-year-old Harvey girl was found last month.
Councilman Mark Spears, who represents the Woodmere neighborhood, made the motion to demolish.
"The people of Woodmere should expect the same quality of life as anyone in this parish," Spears said.
"We can bark loud, but until we bite, nobody's gonna pay any attention," Council Chairman Chris Roberts said.
