If it seems we're having an unusually mild or even cool summer, we're not.
National Weather Service forecaster Ken Graham says the New Orleans area is having a more normal summer this year in terms of the number of hot days - 95 degrees or higher.
Graham says the average number of hot days in any typical summer here is 14.
He says the summer of 2013 may seem unusually mild because previous summers like the one in 2011 were extremely hot.
"We had the drought back in 2011 where we had actually a record number in the last 20 years of 55 days above that 95 temperature," Graham points out.
