St. Bernard Parish residents with questions and concerns about a rare brain-eating amoeba found recently in the parish water supply will be able to ask the experts about it at a public meeting tonight.
State Sen. J.P. Morrell, D-New Orleans, is hosting the meeting at the St. Bernard Parish Council Chambers, 8201 W. Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette, starting at 6pm.
Representatives from the state Departments of Health and Hospitals and Environmental Quality are scheduled to be there to provide information and answer questions.
"The questions that you're not gonna have an answer for in the paper, the questions that you aren't going to find on Google to your satisfaction, you'll have the ability to ask those questions directly to people, and people who are qualified to answer them," Morrell tells 99.5FM.
Morrell adds, "The number one thing to provide in instances like this that government can provide individuals is just information as far as what is actually the threat, how the threat's being handled and really give people peace of mind."
Morrell says the meeting will air live and be replayed on the parish government access cable channel.
